Our Clinicians
Sarah M. Thomas Mariano, LCSW
Sarah Thomas Mariano is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (North Carolina) and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (Massachusetts). Sarah received her Master of Social Work Degree from New York University in 2005.
Sarah works from a strengths-based approach. She supports clients in finding skills and talents that can be recognized and built upon through the therapeutic process. She believes that the course of therapy should be individualized, strengths-based and driven by the person served. Sarah understands that therapy is not about her agenda but about meeting the client where they are, creating space for each individual to lead the process of healing and growing in a way and at a pace that is meaningful for that person.
Sarah believes that each person owns their story and deserves to feel validated in sharing and working through the pieces that feel broken or misaligned. Her focus is on helping each client uncover the answers within, so that upon completion of the therapy process, the client feels empowered, capable and confident to move forward, continuing to trust his or her instincts and wisdom.
Sarah believes that to every extent possible, professional support should be a temporary intervention and works to help clients develop a strong sense of self-actualization and a natural support system that can be sustainable for the long-term. Sarah has special interest in working with adolescents and young adults, with a primary focus on depression, anxiety, mood/ behavior concerns as well as family discord, life transitions and self-esteem.
